The Fastest Way To Become Empowered As An Empath

The greatest thing I ever did was to become empowered. It changed my life completely. I turned into a conscious, self-determining person who was able to empathize and share in another’s experience while knowing, cherishing and honoring myself and being fiercely committed to my own sustenance and growth.

Since realizing my power, I no longer get overwhelmed and break down, I’m never confused about what actually ‘belongs’ to me, the world no longer creates me, instead, I create it.

And the fascinating thing I learned in this process is this: To feel powerless is an illusion.

It’s to believe we are the leaves on the tree being rustled by the wind while forgetting we’re also the strength of trunk and the grounding of the roots that go deep into the earth.

We come to believe the illusion is the truth and it forces us to live very difficult lives. Because it’s hard to live so sensitive in such a harsh world and it’s easy to lose sight of how powerful we are when we finish each day feeling like a dirty washcloth. The only reason we feel like a dirty washcloth is because we forget the truth.

How to become empowered.

One the path to becoming empowered, I realized there’s one easy and fast way to constantly remember the truth and dispel the illusion and it’s this: Start taking responsibility for everything in your life. Bring your locus of attention and navigation back inside yourself.

My favorite mantra is this: nothing is my fault, but everything is my responsibility.

Of course, your money issues could be out of your control, the fight you had with your partner could have been totally their fault and your boss could be a total asshole.

But when you take responsibility for everything in your life, you become forced to remember that you have the strength of the trunk, the grounding of the roots and the ability of the branches to bend without breaking in the wind.

It’s an on-going practice shift your mind to this way of being. But as you do, you begin to shift into your own truth.

How to get started:

Start by asking yourself these questions:

  1. Where do I feel at the mercy of others in my life?
  2. Where am I blaming others?
  3. What would it look like if I took responsibility for everything that’s going on in your life?

It takes great courage to realize your power and it’s not for the faint of heart, but if there’s one thing I know about us empaths, it’s that we are humans of great heart. As Marianne Williamson says,

“our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”

So go forth and realize your power. You will change your life for the better and you will change the world for the best.
